After creating large installations and sculpture series, I felt the urge to communicate that grand setting in a more straightforward manner. Lair of the Hydra is a continuation of the projects Step of Humanity and Last Season Purity. It was inspired by a pagan cult. I use this plant as a symbol and a magical element that enables me to establish a connection between people and the natural world. A "Magic: The Gathering" card served as the inspiration for the title Lair of the Hydra.
